Welcome to Simcoe Social Skills (SSS) and our Social Skills Group (SSG), we are excited to continue our in-person facilitated programs. Is your child between the ages of 6-12 and has been diagnosed or is suspected of having ADHD, Autism or a Developmental Concern? Does your child need help with expressive and receptive language skills, body language, personal space, social rules, building friendships and more? If so then our Social Skills Group is here to help!
Our Social Skills Group is an 8 week group program that coaches and promotes its participants to improve their social interactions and communication skills with others. We use a holistic and therapeutic play approach guided by strength-based goals. We believe that using a therapeutic play approach helps children to apply, express and process their feelings and knowledge in natural ways.
Each weekly session is 1 hour long, with a maximum of 6 clients in each age-based group with 1 facilitator. Each weekly session is structured with an icebreaker, specific topics and goals, engaging activities, crafts and group discussions. This program also includes an individual workbook with weekly take-home summaries, caregiver resources and visual aids.
When our Social Skills Group (SSG) is run publicly through a township, please monitor for the township’s opening registration date. Once the township’s registration period is open please proceed with the township’s registration process. Please note that there will be a mandatory questionnaire about your child’s developmental concerns. Your answers will help us determine how we can modify and accommodate our program to help your child succeed. Due to the ratio of 1 facilitator to 6 participants, parents may be required to stay in the building, and may be asked to help support their child when they need additional help as there is only one facilitator.
When our Social Skills Group (SSG) is run privately, an application link will be available on our webpage when we are accepting new participants. A program application must be completed and emailed to amanda@simcoesocialskills.com. Our program facilitator will select its participants based on their fit within the program, by what the program provides and what the needs of a participant are. Once a participant has completed the intake process and it has been determined the group is a good fit, participants will be registered. A non-refundable deposit of $100 will be due 7 days after receiving your registration confirmation to hold your child’s spot. The remainder amount of payment must be received before the start of the first session, a specific date will be outlined in your confirmation email and can also be found on your program invoice. Simcoe Social Skills will provide appropriate program invoices and receipts upon payment deposits.
